London Reunion, September 2013

Hello Class of '62!

Well we finally had a 'reunion!

It happened ahead of the previously advertised November 19th date at very short notice when Dennis Goldman advised us last week that he passing through London yesterday on his way to Israel. Elaine and I hastily convened the "gathering", which unfortunately the only other UK "class of '62" resident (Gerald Blieden) could not attend. So, we HAD the reunion - a 2.5 hour afternoon tea, yesterday.

It was a wonderful event and as Dennis said, that's about an hour for each 25 years and the past brought back to life. We did not stop chattering, and each brought back interesting and fascinating anecdotes to the party, every story stimulating another. Elaine brought two large pictures; one of the assembled teachers (so there stories about them which we recalled, and regaled how many of them were actually not much older than us - it just felt that way) and the other of the assembled Matric group. For a short while we were all 17 years old again; it was really fun and we were reluctant to tear ourselves away when the time came to say bye!

Elaine and I have determined that we are keeping the planned November 19th date in place for a further reunion, and we know that Gerald can make that. There was a faint hope that Martin might be able to travel to the UK (but it didnt work out) - and we extended a heartfelt and sincere invitation to anyone who was able to come to London at that time to let us know so we can include you. Please pencil the date into your diaries - 5.30pm, London time - Tuesday November 19th; closer to the time we managed to arrange to Skype those of you who are interested into part of the meeting. (Sorry to those in OZ/NZ - we know the timing is really impractical for you.)
